Most ready meals now include serving suggestions among the information printed on their packaging and these can be extremely helpful to people who weren’t aware that rice was edible.
They are also very useful if they help to indicate the true nature of the product, such as “serve with a straw” (cottage pie may be a lot more liquid than you’d expected), “serve with fish” (fish pie may contain less fish then you’d expected) and “serve with undisguised glee” (lasagne is completely devoid of pasta).
Apart from the aforementioned, most serving suggestions can be ignored, particularly if they contain the words quinoa, WD-40, baking beans, lentils, marrow fat or tapeworm.
