Curly kale is a leafy vegetable rich in vitamins and iron. It is named after Norbert ‘Curly’ Kale, the legendary goal-minder for the Toronto Eagles ice hockey team, who earned his affectionate nickname from his shock of curly, ginger hair, and his uncannily accurate impression of Shirley Temple which he performed while his team-mates were attacking the opposition goal.
